The laser is absorbed by the melanin in the skin and transferred to heat, this process is called selective photothermolysis. The heat shatters the pigmented area into smaller pieces. Once the pigment is broken up into small pieces your body’s natural waste system ‘lymphatic system’ safely breaks down and removes the remaining lesion.
Treatment success usually depends on the depth of the pigmentation or how superficial the lesion is. It is also depended on the cause of pigmentation. One treatment is recommended at six week intervals.
